happy halloween // lust list

Happy Halloween!  We went to our friends' home last night and had a small dinner/pumpkin carving party.  Brandon and I worked on the same pumpkin... ours is second from the left.  We thought it was a cat, but once it was lit, we decided it was a raccoon.

I did want to share a few items on the lust list this week.  First (also mentioned on Monday's post) are the AG Adriano Goldschmied Legging Jeans.
These are just fantastic.  Comfortable and flattering.  They don't look like leggings at all, but feel like them.  I've heard a lot of hype about these and am so glad I tried them out.  It has been over a year since I've been able to find a pair of jeans that look and feel this good.

I tried a generous sample of the Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation and was hooked.  It has won a lot of awards, like Instyle's "Best Beauty Buy," and I can see how.  It's glowy, but stays put, even on my oily/combo skin.  It gives a flawless coverage, but doesn't feel heavy.  The color range is great, so surely everyone should be able to find their perfect match.  At $60 a bottle, I can't find it feasible to use every day, especially for work when I prefer to slap on a tinted moisturizer, but this would be an amazing treat to use for special occasions.  Really makes your skin look perfect.

These Jeffrey Campbell Soltaire Pumps are calling my name.  I own the peep toe version of these in black and get compliments every time I wear them.  They are comfortable too... and best part: they are velcro.  That's my kind of shoe.

Lastly, this tote by Cuyana is beautiful.  It can be monogrammed, which would be absolutely necessary in my opinion.  I love how simple, yet chic it is.  I'm also loving Cuyana's philosophy that one should buy fewer, nicer things.  I couldn't agree more.

closet envy // blair eadie

Catherine Kwong has fabulously designed a dream closet, using the ever-so-loved fashion blogger, Blair Eadie, as her muse.  This closet is the perfect showcase of Blair's style.  An amazing blend of colors with neutrals, lights with darks, coupled with a wide array of textures and patterns.

Can't believe the weekend is already over.  Makes me sad to see another one go!  We couldn't have had more gorgeous fall weather in Charleston.  I could have stayed outside all day on Saturday and Sunday and been a happy girl.
I've got a few pictures to share from our weekend.  Also, I've had a few requests recently to share more ootd photos.  I included a few below.  Disclaimer- they are terrible quality, but it's going to have to do for a while at least.  My days are just too busy to pull out the nice camera, recruit Brandon to take photos, and then spend a while editing, etc.  That's my goal eventually, though!  Hang with me.

I've been wearing these Zara leggings like crazy.  They are thicker than most, a lot like the J. Crew pixie pants.  For an ultra casual day at the office on Friday, I paired them with a long sleeve black t shirt and a short sleeved long sweater that is very old.  I love layering looks like this.  Throwing on my metallic Tory Burch Revas, a few gold accessories, and my 3.1 Phillip Lim Pashli bag dressed the look up a bit.  So comfy!

I also quickly painted my nails with O.P.I Bubble Bath.  Such a great neutral!

Friday night, Brandon and I went to dinner at O-Ku.  It was delicious, as always.  We order the same exact thing every time and the servers all know our order before we even have to say it.  Creatures of habit, I guess.

...and this is what I wore.  You can't tell from this view, but this top has an asymmetric hem and is a bit longer in the back.  It also has a zipper in the back, making it pretty unique.  I own it in black, too. The leggings are the same as seen above.  The booties (I know you can't really see them in this picture) are Nine West and although this exact style isn't made anymore, these are very similar.  My necklace is by Zara.

Saturday, we had plans to shop a little at Towne Centre and head to Red's Icehouse to get a late lunch and watch the Clemson game.  I wore my J. Crew swing sweater with AG Adriano Goldschmied "The Legging" jeans.  Added on my limited edition Kendra Scott earrings (similar), horizontal cross necklace, and my Target "Kodi" booties and was out the door!

Red's was perfection.  Seafood queso, followed by a blackened grouper sandwich.  All outside on a crisp fall day with Clemson playing on the screens above.  Dreamy.

Sunday afternoon, we walked around downtown and enjoyed the King Street atmosphere (something I hate to say that I rarely do).  I wore a different style of Zara leggings than mentioned above, but they are just as thick, like actual pants.  I might like these even more than the ones I wore on Friday!  (Note for both leggings: I would usually wear a small, but picked a medium in Zara leggings and they fit perfectly.) Paired those with a Cynthia Rowley asymmetric hem t-shirt I scored at TJ Maxx, a pretty ancient Banana Republic scarf, and Steve Madden loafers (on sale!).

We grabbed lunch and shopped a little.  It was so beautiful outside!  In honor of our six month anniversary, we had to take a picture on the steps of the church where we were married.

...and that was my weekend!  Of course, sprinkled in with a lot of Breaking Bad on Netflix.  We just finished all the episodes currently available and will have to buy the rest on iTunes.  Can't stop now!

Hope you all had happy weekends.  Xo-M

weekly roundup

Well... the cold found us warm-blooded Charlestonians.  I've got my jeans & booties already picked out for a relaxing weekend in town with Brandon.  We are celebrating six months of marriage this weekend, so dinner at O-Ku is obviously on the agenda (any reason to celebrate, right?).  Watching Clemson play at Red's is probably going to happen too.  I'm in major need of an outdoor meal by the water.
I've got a bit more on the link list this week since I had to skip my roundup last Friday.  There is still a lot I didn't link this week ...like the Ohio State band routine that happened last weekend?  Awesomeness.
Enjoy your weekend, loves!  Any fun plans?

One of my favorite ways to decorate is with coffee table books.  They can be stacked anywhere - on shelves, tables, atop an accent chair, and even on the floor.  I love how one's personality and interests can be directly showcased by a stack of books.  I've picked out a few of my favorites... some I own, some I'm eyeing.  As you can see below, they include topics of fashion, interiors, travel, and cats (French ones, of course).  One thing is for sure, there is truly a coffee table book to suit every person & every room.

she's hitched!

Last Friday morning, I hit the road to St. Helena Island to kick off my best friend's wedding weekend.  The ceremony and reception both took place at The Oaks Plantation, the most gorgeous waterfront venue, complete with historic charm and abundant Spanish Moss.

The bridal luncheon was on Friday morning.  Look how beautiful the table was set!  Our friend, Ashton, and her mother hosted it and did an amazing job.

The rehearsal dinner was held at Soiree in downtown Beaufort.  What a delicious meal!

Wedding day!
I had to snag a few photos taken by guests off of Facebook. ;)

Sadly, no wedding day pictures with my husband or group pictures yet.  Those are on real cameras & these are all from an iPhone.  I was just eager to share with you what I've got!  The happy couple is honeymooning in St. Lucia right now and I am insanely jealous!  That's all I've got for today.  Happy Tuesday, loves!

FALL BOOT GUIDE {lust list}

product spotlight {rembrandt two hour whitening kit}

Good morning!  I had a fantastic weekend celebrating my best friend's wedding & can't wait to share photos with you tomorrow.  I even took yesterday off to recuperate from all the fun.  For today, I thought I'd share my teeth whitening routine.  It's changed a little, as I've always been very, very loyal to my Crest White Strips. Lately, though, I've been cheating on those with the Rembrandt Two Hour Whitening Kit.  I reviewed a bunch of Rembrandt products a little over a year ago (here), but thought I'd touch base on this whitening kit again.

The instructions say to shape the applicator trays to your teeth using hot water.  Then, apply the whitening gel to the trays and do four 20 minute sessions, with 10 minute breaks in between.

I use this whitening kit a bit differently than advised since I am using these trays more so for maintenance than to see immediate whitening results.  Instead of doing a complete two hour treatment, I apply one gel pod (kit comes with eight -four for top, four for bottom) to the two trays.  I find that one pod has enough gel for both trays.  I leave the treatment in for about thirty minutes, then brush my teeth very lightly with a clean toothbrush, while the gel is still coating my teeth.  Then, I brush my teeth like normal with toothpaste and follow up with mouthwash.  Recently, Brandon and I purchased electric Sonicare toothbrushes and have been amazed at the difference we've noticed!

I've been loving these trays more than Crest Whitestrips recently because they seem to be more convenient to use.  Filling the trays with the whitening gel and popping them in my mouth is easier than peeling the sticky Whitestrips off the plastic and aligning them perfectly on my teeth... then sneezing and having them fly out like cannon balls.  The trays also feel much better in my mouth than the strips do.  That said, the whitening results have been very similar.

"Do you know what elegance is?
It is not only what you're wearing.
It is how you wear it, who you are inside.
It is the way you decorate your house, what you surround yourself with,
the books you read and what your interests are."

easy and bright

I stumbled upon this simple and chic kitchen by TerraCotta on Pinterest.  Unlike a lot of the dreamy kitchens I pin, this one actually seems easily attainable.  It's small and inviting, yet bright and open at the same time.  I love the mix of warm grey and white.  The neutral palette is perfectly complimented by the rich colors in the persian rug.

While on TerraCotta's website, I fell in love with so many of their kitchen designs.  Such smart storage solutions.  These are definitely pin-worthy!
