she wore white

I've been saving this Rebecca Taylor dress to wear on our one year anniversary. I wanted a soft white dress for the occasion and this one fit the bill perfectly. Luckily, it didn't clash with my wedding shoes, which I've been waiting a whole year to wear again. Now that I've gotten that second wear out of them, I'll probably pair them with more and more outfits. These pumps fit my feet so well and because of that, they are the most comfortable heels I own. Which, for this bride, was perfect since I stayed on the dance floor during our entire reception.

anniversary trip

This was one of those vacations where I actually don't feel like I need a vacation from my vacation. (Know how that always tends to happen?) We celebrated 365 days as Mr. & Mrs. in Ponte Vedra, FL at the Lodge & Club. It was all kinds of fantastic and I would recommend it to anyone. Here are some pictures from our trip!

A welcome toast & treats.

We took the A1A down to St. Augustine to have dinner at Caps on the Water. I'm sure many of your have eaten there - it seems like a pretty popular place (at least judging by the two+ hour wait we had!). YUM on all levels. Still dreaming about the lobster fritters.

I loved the spanish moss in the oak trees (reminded me of home) and the icing on the cake were the chandeliers hung in the trees!

On our actual anniversary, we woke up early to watch the most gorgeous sunrise.
...and enjoyed some breakfast in bed, because is there any better way to start off your anniversary?

Then we spent the day at the spa and enjoyed massages, facials, and pedicures. The pool/cabana bar at the spa was almost the best part ...almost.

Then we did other very anniversary-ish things.
I slipped on my wedding shoes for the first time since the big day.
We exchanged gifts and, sorry, but I've got to brag on my man a little bit. I am in love with my first Vahan bracelet. I've wanted one forever! He did real good.

After dinner, we dug into the wedding cake. That lasted about two bites. (I don't think we wrapped it well enough.)

And this is how Monday looked...
...and a lovely surprise waiting for me when we got home!

This vintage French desk is from Pearls Before Noon in the Habersham Marketplace. I will now be working from home, so it will be used a LOT.

So now we're up to speed! Sorry I missed you yesterday, but that's where I was! Thank you for all of the sweet anniversary wishes. It was certainly one to remember! xo-M

the happiest of days

Somehow, it's been an entire year since our wedding day - my most favorite day. Well, Sunday will be a year. If you're new around here and have a smidgen of interest, you can view our wedding photos here and our wedding video here.
Time to celebrate ...be back Tuesday!

quick hair styling tutorial

After posting this photo on instagram, I promised I would share my hair styling routine with you.  Truth is, I'm normally very lazy with my hair and do this routine almost every time I blow dry my hair because it takes less than ten minutes total. Even though it's quick and simple, it still gives a volumized look - so it's perfect for me or any girl on the go. What makes this so easy is that I only use a paddle brush, rather than sectioning off hair and using a round brush. This video includes the products I use to prep my hair for styling, exactly how I blow dry, and how I finish off the look. Enjoy!

what i wore: color craze

Another dress added to my closet that has versatility options galore. This little number by Trina Turk is something that can be dressed up with heels or dressed down with cute sandals and a denim jacket. I believe a dress is worth the splurge if it's versatile enough to be worn to church, work, and a fancy event. This dress fits that criteria, so I'm pretty much in love. It's also one of the most fun prints I've seen in a while. Double whammy!

This dress is from Mosaic, an upscale ladies clothing boutique in downtown Lake City, SC. They have an amazing assortment of lines like 10 Crosby Derek Lam, Trina Turk, by Malene Birger, Mara Hoffman, and Alice & Olivia - just to name a few. You can shop online and shipping is free within the US!

P.S. My favorite photo from the Mosaic Spring Lookbook!

little white dress

one / two / three / four  / five / six

Happy Easter weekend! Now is the perfect time to pull out that little white dress. Because seriously, is there any better color to wear in the spring and summer?

Do I ever love a good striped tee. They can go with anything, can be dressed up or down, and somehow manage to always give the wearer a carefree look. It's just one of those closet staples that no woman should ever be without. I throw mine on with anything, but here are two ways I've styled it in... ahem.. the past four days.
The one I have on in these photos is from Banana Republic and although it's no longer available, here are some great striped tee options that I love.

And here's how I styled the two outfits:

nighttime skincare routine

Since I shared my morning skincare routine with you a couple weeks ago, I thought it's only appropriate to follow up with my nighttime routine. It's not necessary to have a completely different routine for day vs. night, but this is what works for my skin. I like to use light, oil free products in the morning and heavier, more anti-aging products at night. Let's jump right into it...

First and foremost, the makeup has got to go. For this, I use my tried and true Clinique Wash Away Gel Cleanser. If you've been around here for a while, then you've seen me mention this time and time again. I've tried multiple makeup removing methods (even ranges of cleanse off oils that are so popular right now), but this has remained my #1 choice. It doesn't aggravate my eyes, removes all makeup in a breeze, it's gentle, and the bottle lasts over a year because you need the tiniest drop. I gently massage this into my face and rinse with warm water.

Next, I follow up with the La Roche-Posay Purifying Foaming Gel and my Clarisonic Mia. The first cleansing in step #1 was to remove makeup and this time it's to deep clean the skin - so yes, it's completely necessary to cleanse your skin twice in the evenings. (Did you know the Clarisonic cleanses your face six times better than doing it with your fingertips alone?)

I've seriously been loving the Colbert MD Tone Control Facial Discs, but warning: they're awfully expensive for only 20 discs. The company was kind enough to send these to me to try, which honestly is the only reason I've been using them in my routine. You have no idea how much I wish these were a permanent part of my routine though! I've suffered from some hyper-pigmentation from a few breakouts and these discs have almost made those spots completely disappear. If you're willing to shell out the bucks, these are worth every penny. Dr. Colbert (renown NYC dermatologist) has an entire line of skincare products and everything I've tried is totally impressive. And the products smell like a spa, which wins them major brownie points.

Sometimes I spritz La Roche-Posay Thermal Spring Water on my face after that step, sometimes I do it after step #2. And honestly, sometimes I don't do it at all. But if my skin is feeling especially dry, I like to spray it on before serums because I feel that it puts a little suppleness and moisture back into my skin.

The Drunk Elephant Framboos Night Glycolic Serum goes on next. It hydrates, reduces hyper-pigmentation, diminishes wrinkles, and gently removes dead skin cells. There's a lot going on in that little bottle. Not pictured, but I've also been using the La Roche-Posay Mela-D Pigment Control and it is fantastic. It's crazy good at removing dark spots - perhaps the best serum I've ever tried for that particular use.

Just like in the mornings, I use the La Roche-Posay Effaclar Duo spot treatment on any existing breakouts. It has a mix of LHA and benzoyl peroxide, so it's going to exfoliate and even the skin's texure and eliminate acne-causing bacteria.

While I let that set, I go ahead and gently pat a small dab of the Origins GinZing Refreshing Eye Cream around my eyes. I mostly concentrate the product under my eyes, but also put it on the eyelids and around the outer edges of my eyes to the top of my eyebrows.

To finish up, I put the tiniest amount of Drunk Elephant Marula Luxury Face Oil on my face, neck, and décolleté. Don't be afraid to use this if you have oily skin like I do. It won't make you more oily and won't make you break out (well, it shouldn't.) Instead, it hydrates, preserves, and heals skin - a great combination in my book.

I've said this before, but these are the products that work for me. Every person and every skin is different, so I'm not promising that they will work for you. But, I'm seriously in love with all of these products and would highly suggest them. I'm always interested in learning what other people use on their skin... so tell me, what are your favorite products to use at night?
