The New Old House + Pins I Like

We are supposed to close on the new house this Thursday. It's a 1940s brick bungalow in one of our favorite parts of town. It's a really walkable area, so I'm excited to stroll around with our baby once he's here. This house has already given me a few gray hairs so far (and I'm sure many more to come), but we can't wait to call it our own.

Meanwhile, I've been scouring Pinterest like a looney trying to find some great inspiration for our renovations. We thought going into this that we would re-do the master bathroom and kitchen right away, then work on projects and the guest bath later on. After inspections and what not, our plans expanded a bit and we are going to have to rewire the electric in the whole house and add the master bedroom to the reno list, too. Of course our to-do list is about 300 line items long— we need to scrape the ceilings, do tons of exterior work and some landscaping, and then lots of other odds and ends.

So with that said, we probably will have to do the master bed/bath and kitchen in phases since we have other things added to the list, too. We would love to have both finished by March, just in time for the baby, but we'll see what kind of prices we get back from our contractor.

Here are some inspiration photos I've been pinning. Just dreaming. Obviously most of these photos are more elaborate than what we could fit into this house and what we can afford, but we want to take bits and pieces of these inspiration photos and put them into our designs. So excited!

  3. Love the light and bright feel of those rooms. Such a great classic look! I wish our previous owners had liked light and bright instead of dark cabinets and tile when they did their renovations, I've been dying to paint our cabinets since we moved in!
