currently loving: a sale on a sale

You know that sense of accomplishment you get when you buy something on sale... but you get an extra discount on top of that sale price? Well that's exactly what's happening right now at Bloomingdale's, but only until 11/1! I rounded up some of my absolute favorites from the sale, like some of my favorite jeans and some amazing layering items for fall, like this poncho and this vest. I even threw in a few summer items because the deals are too good to miss. And you never know when you might be given a surprise trip to Bora Bora. ;)

Every item below is now priced 30% - 70% off.  Huge win.

etsy baby favorites

Etsy is a gold mine for baby clothing and gear. One of the first things I did after finding out we were expecting is scour the website high and low for sweet baby finds. Here are some of my favorites (so far)!

I really love this one. As for me and my baby, I do realize it's probably too girly for a boy. Then again, the truth is that our baby is going to have some borderline feminine things due to his mama's taste. I'll mix in enough "boy" stuff to balance it out! I do love this one too and it's a little more neutral, but equally sweet.

What's not to love about a sweet pillow like this?

Ok baby girl mamas, this one is for you. Baby or not, you've got to see the amazing monograms in this shop. She has gorgeous home linens as well. I can't get over how sweet this set is.

Heart. Melted.

Take a look in this shop and be prepared to be swept away with cuteness. This one is handmade from a wool fabric in the softest shade of cream, densely filled with 100% wool stuffing, and completed with a hand embroidered face.

This has to be my favorite. It's a must for any southern baby boy. I can't wait to dress ours in sweet bubbles like this!

It comes in pink, too! There is also a matching burp cloth that is equally adorable.

This particular one is actually on sale! I love the soft color. It can be worn as a poncho, as a scarf, and can also be a stroller/infant carrier cover.

5 must have beauty products

I've got a large—um, huge—product empties post coming up soon, so in light of that, I thought I would share five beauty products that I will always repurchase. With these products, there's no experimenting around with other variations of the same type of product. I've used them for years and have compared them to so many other products. I know I love these five so much that when I run out, I grab a new one without even thinking about it. End of story.

Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Gel: I have unruly brows and this is the only thing that holds them in place all day. I don't feel like my makeup is done unless I've combed this through my brows.
Batiste Dry Shampoo: I don't mess with the tinted versions of this product, but I will repurchase the original all day long. If you have dark hair, I'd recommend applying it at night instead of in the morning so that you don't have the white-cast. I've tried a million dry shampoos and this is the only one that actually makes my hair look clean.
Shimmer Lights Purple Shampoo: If you have blonde hair, you need this. Using it once a week or so will take the brassiness out of your hair. I love this because I crave that cool, sandy blonde. (Don't bother with the conditioner though—it's terrible.)
Benefit Hoola Bronzer: This is a matte bronzer, so it doesn't have any shimmer in it. I like to use this for contouring. I swear the shade is perfect—it's not orange or muddy. When applied, it looks just like a natural shadow on my face. On sunny days when I'm going to be outside, I like to wear this because I don't like to see distinct shimmer particles on my face when in the harsh sunlight, which I can always see with "glowy" bronzers. For night, I love to use this in combination with a shimmery bronzer. The combination of the two products gives such a cool effect.
Tarte Smooth Operator Amazonian Clay Finishing Powder: I've used this for years. It is the perfect translucent powder to set foundation. It doesn't make you too matte, but it definitely keeps oil at bay. The special amazonian clay formulation is supposed to be balancing for your skin and I believe that. It also is nearly undetectable on the skin (I feel like other powders like this are chalky). I swear by this product.

currently loving: troubadour FW 2015

It's no secret that Charleston—especially for being such a small city—is home to so many talented people. I love looking through big stores like Anthropologie or West Elm and seeing the work of Charleston locals! Lindsey Carter is no exception. She created the amazing clothing line, Troubadour, in 2010 and I've been following her work since. I'm tickled because I was just introduced to her fall/winter line and it is so good.

The prints. That's what got me this time.

Makes sense. Lindsey's inspiration for this collection came from the art world, and especially by Peggy Guggenheim after a trip to Venice. She also collaborated with Charleston artist Brian Coleman and used one of his cut-out paintings as the pattern for the black and white pieces in the collection.

You can read more about the Troubadour/Brian Coleman collab here. These photos are by Sully Sullivan, by the way. Aren't they fun?

I just love this line and thought you might like it too.

Also, THANK YOU for all of your sweet comments about our gender reveal post yesterday. We are so excited of our baby boy and I appreciate all of your kind words more than you know! xoxo

IT'S A ... (gender reveal + 16 week pregnancy update!)

How far along? 16 weeks + 2 days

Baby’s size? About the size of an avocado. Our sonographer said Baby is about 5 inches from crown to rump.

Total weight gain/loss: About 7 pounds. I've gained a pound since my 14wk check in.

Here's my 16 week bump. It's starting to show itself!

Maternity clothes? Not yet, I'm still getting by with the two pairs of jeans I have that fit, leggings, and by wrapping a hair elastic around the buckles of my other pants! Shirts are all fine.

Sleep: Totally normal still ...fingers crossed.

Best moment this week: Last Thursday we had a 3d/4d ultrasound! It was so amazing to see our baby moving all around. We saw individual fingers moving and the sweetest wiggly arms and legs. We found out the baby's gender in that appointment! After the ultrasound, we headed straight over to my parent's house, who hosted a mini gender reveal for us and Brandon's parents. It was special being able to tell them in person and to share our 4d ultrasound video clips.

On Friday we attended the gender reveal for our good friends, Drew & Cody. I've mentioned a few times that Cody is 4 weeks ahead of me. They are having a sweet little boy. That was another great moment!

Miss Anything? Not much this week. Although I still could really go for a hotdog.

Movement: None yet. Our sonographer told me that my placenta is positioned in between the baby and the front of my belly, so it may take longer for me to feel movements compared to other women. Boo!

Food cravings: Nothing new. Still have been loving fruit, but I haven't craved it like I did before. I've been extremely thirsty and have always had water or G2 around me. I will say that I've been thinking heavily about hibachi veggies & rice lately, so B and I got that on Sunday night. I wouldn't say that's more of a craving than normal, though!

Anything making you queasy or sick? Nope.

Symptoms: None the past two weeks! Knock on wood, but my energy is so much better and I haven't had those terrible headaches.

Gender: It's a.....

Y'all, I honestly couldn't believe it when we were told it's a boy. I knew with every ounce of my body that we were having a girl. Most of the old wives' tales pointed to girl—ramzi method, that 'gender experts' website, chinese gender calendar, and most of the symptoms, too. That's not to say I was hoping for a girl, but I just happened to have my mind set on a girl since I felt so confident about it. So hearing boy was a little bit of a shock! A sweet, sweet shock.

I immediately looked at Brandon and he had tears streaming down his face. It was such a special moment. He actually thought our baby was a girl too, but I know deep down he secretly was hoping for a boy, although he probably wouldn't ever have admitted it. We are both so happy. I can finally start nursery planning and buying baby clothes! Oh, and we can start sifting through names!

And as of yesterday... I may or may not have ordered a crib! I am PUMPED.

THE TOTE (of all totes) // what i wore

outfit details //
blazer  |  top (runs big! I'm in xs)  |  jeans (my all time favorites!)  |  booties (true to size)
  tote  |  ring  |  scarf  |  sunglasses

Do you remember those amazing TRUFFLE clarity clutches I've posted about before? I featured one in this post and you also saw one of my Everygirl features here. Anyway, the same company has created their first larger bag, The Everyday Tote—the most amazing tote you've ever feasted your eyes on. Seriously. It's made of natural tanned saddle leather, has an internal & external pocket for extra organization, and is such a good size. I think what I like best is that it stands up on it's own. I am a huge fan of the Madewell Transport Tote, but my one qualm about it is that it's so floppy. This one has structure to it and is the perfect blend of simple + detailed. I mean, just look at those gorgeous stitching details!

nurseries i love + a secret

I've totally been going pinterest crazy since I found out I was pregnant. The main thing I've been pinning are nurseries. There are so many options! Modern vs. traditional, glamorous vs. shabby chic, masculine vs. cutesy. I need four nurseries—one of each style, haha! No really, I do. Although the process might send Brandon over the edge. I don't really have a "mood board" to offer you yet featuring what I plan to do in our nursery, but I am sure it will be a mix of everything I like. That's kind of how I decorate as it is. I mix and match things I like in a way that (hopefully) goes together seamlessly. Ok, here are my favorites so far!

Ahh, they are all beautiful! How would one ever decide?

p.s. We know our baby's gender!!! I will probably announce it tomorrow or Wednesday, so check back soon!

Here's what I scooped up in the Shopbop sale!
