Just a moment of self reflection that left me wondering…
I’ve been a blogger for two and a half years. I’ve read blogs for three. I was just thinking of what has changed in my life during those years. Well, a lot. I graduated from college, started a job, got engaged, got a kitten, yada yada yada. I was thinking more deeply than that. What did I do before blogs?
My morning routine is to enjoy a cup of coffee and catch up on my favorite blogs. I might take a peek at Facebook, but other than that, Blogger is the only website that I pull up multiple times on a daily basis. My morning routine used to be enjoying coffee in bed while watching the Today Show, no not just the “news” part, but the Kathie Lee and Hoda part. The late segment. Yes, staying in bed until 10am wasn’t unusual… I was in college, give me a break!
Now that I’ve started my job and am planning a wedding, my mind goes in a million different directions throughout the day. I may not get to lay in bed with coffee (ever.), but I don’t exactly want that anymore. My interests have changed. On days that I have off, I lay in bed, trying to capture that same relaxed feeling I used to have, but I don’t find myself staring at the TV admiring Savannah Guthrie’s long legs, but checking up on all of you and your blogs.
Blogs are my happy place. I’m sure many of you can relate. Throughout the hustle and bustle of my day, you are there. Your blogs are there. Many days, I don’t put up a blog post, not because I don’t want to, but because I’d rather devote that amount of free time to immersing myself into other blogs. It’s an escape. It’s like reading a magazine that you don’t have to flip ..and for the most part, they don’t have those cheesy ads that I get on every other page in my beloved InStyle.
Since I’ve been reading blogs, I’ve spent a lot more money than I used to (hey, the temptation around Blogger is HUGE), I’ve met many wonderful and inspiring people, I take a lot more photos than I used to (always thinking, “Hey, this would be great on the blog!”), I’ve been introduced to many amazing companies …I’ve also challenged my patience, creativity, devotion, and ambition. I continue to do this everyday.
The list goes on.
The point of all this? Well, I guess I don’t really have one. If you’ve made it this far, I applaud you. Moments like these sometimes deserve a little ramble, right?. This is a moment I’m thankful for all of you. Come to think of it, I meant to say these exact things to you on Thanksgiving. Your support and comments mean so much. Keeping up with a blog is a lot of work, but you all make it worth it.
So thank you.
