There were no sequins and heels involved in my NYE celebration this year. I swapped them out for sweatpants and moccasins and it was pretty awesome. Brandon and I rented a mountain house in Ferguson, NC with three other couples for four nights. Here are a few snaps from our trip …a few you may recognize from instagram.
I rocked my New Balance sneaks that I got for Christmas to the mountains. They are made just for J. Crew and I highly recommend them! They fit true to size, in case you’re wondering.
This was our view. Pretty amazing.
That night, we celebrated NYE the best way we knew how. We played Cards Against Humanity, rocked silly glasses, and popped champagne next to the warm fire.
We went for a hike the next day. I could totally go for that again. The crisp air was so refreshing and it surprisingly wasn’t all that cold.
There were so many leaves on our hiking trail that we had to walk through them rather than on top of them. There aren’t any leaves like that in Charleston, I can assure you of that.
Our late afternoons looked a lot like this. As I’m looking at this photo, I’m realizing the background almost doesn’t even look real.
The next day we ventured out into Boone, NC and shopped around the little boutiques and of course, the Mast General Store. We loaded up on lots of candy with all intentions of saving it until we got home. But I can assure you that the whole bag is almost gone already.
We stumbled upon a little restaurant named Proper. It was fantastic in all ways.
This sandwich had turkey, vermont white cheddar, granny smith apples, and housemade rosemary pecan aioli on it. Hello, Heaven. And yes, I got tomato pie as my side because when faced with that option, it’s hard to say no. Am I right?
The weather during the rest of our trip wasn’t wonderful. It was pretty foggy and dreary. It even rained a couple days. But that didn’t keep us inside. Please note the umbrella and hats. Brandon was taking the photo. 🙂
Our pretty and clear mountain view we started off with then looked like this.
But that just meant staying in with warm coffee and playing board games. It was an amazing trip. And then reality slapped me right in the face! Which is why this post is going up so late today.
Happy 2015, friends.
