Today I’m 30 weeks pregnant and I really can’t believe it as I type that out. I’ve always heard that time goes quicker when you’re expecting your second child (and so on…) and that’s really true! We are so busy keeping up with our little Watson that there isn’t the time to sit around counting the days until our baby girl will be here. But that doesn’t mean the excitement level isn’t just the same. I really can’t wait to hold her and kiss her… and see who she looks like. Am I nervous? Oh yeah, going from one to two is going to be a huge adjustment, I’m sure. I’d like to write more about those feelings soon. But today I want to share some baby things I’ve picked up, pregnancy updates, and progress in the nursery!
I’m working with Rebecca Hoyle on the artwork for baby girl’s nursery. Rebecca has the kindest soul and her talent clearly speaks for itself through her gorgeous paintings. I absolutely loved this palm painting above, but we’ve decided that she is going to do a commission for us instead.
She was so sweet to bring some pieces over for me to see, so that I could gauge the right size, colors, and frame options. All of her current works are available on her website if you’re interested in purchasing one.
And here’s Rebecca. 🙂
I can’t wait to share our commissioned artwork with you guys in the nursery reveal next month!
We’ve picked out the furniture for the room! We went with the Million Dollar Baby Liberty Crib, their Darlington Dresser, and their Darlington Bookcase. All three go perfectly together and we are really in love with the room now. P.S. Stay tuned because I’m hosting a Million Dollar Baby giveaway next month that you’re not going to want to miss if you’re expecting a baby!
And in case you’re wondering about the rug, it’s this one. The curtains are from here and are an awesome price. I love them, but we are changing these out soon because I’m going with a different look. And the blush colored pouf is from here.
Gang’s all here! Picking out her stuffed animals has been one of my favorite parts of preparing for a baby. We’ve got Charlotte the Dog from Cuddle + Kind (read about their mission to feed hungry children all over the world with each purchase), a white bunny by Jellycat, a smaller grey bunny from Manhattan Toy, and Picchu by Blabla.
We got the Project Nursery 5″ HD Dual Connect Monitor System for her room—and added an additional camera unit to our order for Watson’s room. I did a lot of research on monitors and this one seems awesome. I know friends that have it and love it, too.
Watson loves running in her room when he wakes up from his naps. He’s obsessed with these rainboots. (You can also find them on Amazon.) And this little bunny floor mat is one of my favorite buys for her!
Some of y’all have noticed our custom wooden baby gates in my insta-stories. We had them made by Coastline Custom Furnishings, so if you’re local to Charleston and need something custom done, hit them up! They can do anything it seems.
This is more a Watson update than for our new baby, but it’s something I’m going to keep using once she is here and old enough to try real food! We got the chance to try out Pure Spoon, a company that brings fresh, organic baby purees right to your doorstep. The delivery was super fast and all the flavors are great. (Yes, I’ve tried them!)
I’ve already pulled out our vintage Jenny Lind cradle for the first few months to use by our bed. We used this for Watson as well. It was something my brother and I both used when we were babies… my parents restored it for us before Watson arrived. P.S. Here’s another giveaway hint… kind of. 🙂
Oh, this Little Giraffe blanket. Have y’all felt these? Talk about a dream and the perfect gift for an expectant mama. They have so many blankets in different sizes, colors, and fabrics. Every single one I’ve felt feels like a cloud. Save 20% if you’d like to buy something full-priced on their website with code HOLYCITYCHIC. (There’s more than just blankets!)
I’ve been living in these Belly Bandit Bump Support Leggings. I have a size medium, but maaaybe could have taken a small. I like the roominess though. They’re fully opaque and could be worn for working out or day to day wear. I also love that the belly panel can fold down. That makes it really nice because sometimes those panels bother me!
Speaking of working out, I’ve tried to remain a lot more active during this pregnancy and so far it has really paid off. I think I stayed a little too stationery with my first pregnancy and the weight really added up since I was eating bigger portions, too. I can’t help but stay on the move with Watson, but I also have tried to go to the gym about 2-3x per week at a minimum. Would y’all be interested in learning about my workout routine? It’s nothing complex and I barely break a sweat to be honest, but it keeps me active and feeling strong.
