Brandon surprised me with a sweet little staycation for our six year anniversary. He spilled the beans earlier in the week that we would be staying overnight somewhere in town, but he wouldn’t tell me where. There are so many new see & be seen boutique hotels in Charleston these days… I figured it would be one of those, but little did I know the surprise would be so much more meaningful and special.

To start off our weekend, we took the boat out and cruised around the waterways of Charleston and grabbed lunch on Isle of Palms by boat. It was such a pretty day!

We decided to keep our boat docked overnight at a downtown Marina so that we could just Uber over to wherever we were staying (still a surprise to me!) and not have to go home first to take the boat back.

When we pulled up to The Wentworth Mansion, I was so excited because that’s where we stayed on our wedding weekend 6 years ago! You can see it in our wedding video here.

We even stayed in the same room, the Grand Mansion Suite.

When I walked into this room, I immediately got teary eyed. It was just so surreal being back in the place I stayed during our wedding weekend—and the first place we stayed as husband and wife. I haven’t stepped foot on the property since then… and everything looks exactly the same! It was emotional!

Here are some pictures of me getting ready in the same room before our wedding.

And then here it is now!

We got ready for dinner…

…and went to Hall’s Chophouse, one of our very favorites in Charleston.

Later when we returned, there was a bottle of champagne left for us and a really sweet card. But TBH, we just brought the bubbles home and will save it for mimosas one day, haha. We were exhausted after a fun night out for dinner!

The Wentworth Mansion has lots of treats hidden all over, like wine + hors d’oeuvres in the afternoon and pastries + coffee in the morning.

That next morning, we grabbed one of those pastries and some coffee, then went for a nice walk downtown.

Later we went to the restaurant on the property, Circa 1886, for a very lovely breakfast.

And then we spent some time sitting out in the beautiful courtyard smelling the delicious confederate jasmine and other blooms. It was nice to just sit and… be.

Then we grabbed an Uber to get back to our boat, then headed home!

It was a really great time to recharge and celebrate.

Such a sweet little getaway! That mansion is absolutely gorgeous! When y’all are gone for the night, who watches the kiddos??
